Name: Climate Forecast System Version 2 Reanalysis
  Abbreviation: CFSR
Description: Climate Forecast System Version 2 (CFSv2) is a fully-coupled model representing the interaction between the Earth's ocean, land, and atmosphere domains. Developed by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), this model became operational in August 2004, and was run in retrospective mode back to 1982 creating both CFSv2 Reanalysis (CFSR) and CFSv2 Reforecast data sets. CFSR was designed and executed as a global, high-resolution, coupled-domain system to provide the best estimate of the state of these coupled domains over the 32-year period of record from January 1979 to March 2011. CFSR has since been extended into an operational real-time product. Please reference the following article when using CFSR data: Saha, Suranjana, and Coauthors, 2010: The NCEP Climate Forecast System Reanalysis. Bull. Amer. Meteor. Soc., 91, 1015.1057. doi: 10.1175/2010BAMS3001.1
