  Name: International Soil Moisture Network
  Abbreviation: ISMN
Description: The International Soil Moisture Network (ISMN) is a new data hosting center where globally available ground-based soil moisture measurements are collected, harmonized, and made available to users through a web interface. As the first international initiative of its kind, the ISMN will play a crucial role in globally assessing the quality of soil moisture estimates from spaceborne microwave sensors and land surface models, and for use in studying climate change and the integrated hydrological cycle. The ISMN is fully operational and currently hosts soil moisture data from over 500 stations from 16 different networks.
